Community aqueduct with solar pumping Los Cambrones, San Juan de la Maguana
Background

Through the collaboration agreement signed in 2017 by FUNDASEP and the Nature Power Foundation, we promote social development projects for vulnerable communities in the southern region of the country, as is the case of the aqueduct that started construction in July with a first strike, to benefit the inhabitants of the Los Cambrones community located southeast of the municipality of San Juan de la Maguana.

Thanks to solidarity donors, the empowerment of the entire community and the work of Fundasep and the Nature Power Foundation, the construction of the community aqueduct that families in the area have so yearned for and required for many years will be completed. Some 47 families, 220 people, will be the direct beneficiaries, and around 300 people in total will benefit from the work.
Thanks to the institutional work carried out, the inhabitants of the community have become aware of the benefits, the correct use, the importance and the right to have easy access to drinking water; as well as they have understood the need for preservation and conservation of the Environment and Natural Resources.
“We will no longer have to walk long distances to the rivers, which are almost dry, to be able to cook and carry out housework. We need this aqueduct, because the water we have is not clean and causes infectious and skin diseases for us and our children.”
